IP strategy is about where you’re going, not where you are.
Decisions are made at points in time but their effects move through time, and some of the places they end up you can’t come back from. How do you keep options open and avoid ruin?
That kind of question is what I find interesting, and I write about how it intersects with IP.
My background is in patent law, with a doctorate in biochemistry and over a decade working at the intersection of IP and commercial strategy — in private practice, and in-house at companies building serious science.
The subjects here are IP strategy viewed through different lenses. These essays are long and infrequent — in the Montaigne tradition, not the academic one. An attempt to capture what I think, an invitation for disagreement and debate. If you want either, come and find me.
